Hobbs Tracking

Learn how to manage Hobbs time in the Aircraft Module and Post Flight

  1. To manage Hobbs on your aircraft, you must first check the box for Hobbs in Aircraft (select the tail you want to edit) - Operational - Systems - Extra Systems.

  2. In Aircraft - Maintenance - Log, Initialize the Hobbs with a date and number of hours. This is the same process you would follow with Airframe and Engines, as well as APU (if applicable). If you are integrating with a maintenance system, also ensure that serial numbers in your maintenance software (i.e. for airframes and engines) match what shows in FL3XX in order to sync correctly.

  3. Save your changes.
  4. With Hobbs checked as an extra system, even if not initialized, all of your airframe and engine times in the post flight will now be anchored to your Hobbs, rather than the flight time shown in FL3XX.
  5. Note that the Start Hobbs will always be equal to the End Hobbs of the last closed/completed Post Flight.
  6. It is critical that pilots verify the Hobbs from the aircraft on each flight and that they do not add just the flight time to the start Hobbs on each leg. This is because, if last night's post flight is closed and today there are 4 legs on the aircraft, the Start Hobbs will be the same on all legs. Adding the flight time will generate errors. They must enter the actual End Hobbs. Then, when the post flights are completed and closed, the Delta (End Hobbs minus Start Hobbs) will correct itself because the Start Hobbs will automatically update from the previous closed post flight.
  7. The Maint Report (previously CAMO Report) will be your source of truth in seeing start and end Hobbs per flight, including the ability to show incomplete flights (defined as post flight not set to OK/green).
  8. It is also strongly recommended to enable the setting "Check Previous Flights In Post Flight," which checks if previous flights are all closed before setting a post flight to OK.
