FL3XX Data Lake

Introducing FL3XX Data Lake: Empower Your Aviation Insights

While BRIGHT provides intuitive dashboards and reports tailored to aviation management, the Data Lake extends this by offering direct access to your data in a flexible, exportable format. This allows you to integrate FL3XX data seamlessly into your preferred business intelligence (BI) tools, unlocking custom analyses and visualizations that align perfectly with your unique needs.

What is the FL3XX Data Lake?

The FL3XX Data Lake is a secure, cloud-based repository that provides read-only access to key datasets from your FL3XX aviation management system. Built on AWS S3 (Simple Storage Service), it delivers your data as raw files—direct copies of the report datasets used in BRIGHT. This means you get the same high-quality, validated data without any additional processing overhead.

The Data Lake includes all the datasets available in BRIGHT. These datasets are generated through our established ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline, ensuring consistency with BRIGHT's analytics.

Benefits of the FL3XX Data Lake

With the Data Lake, you gain the flexibility to:

  • Import Data into Your Tools: Load .csv files into BI platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel for custom dashboards and advanced analytics.
  • Merge Datasets: Use the Data Lake to combine multiple datasets and unlock broader, more powerful reporting possibilities.
  • Create Tailored Insights: Go beyond BRIGHT's pre-built reports by editing data, applying your own filters, or combining with other sources to monitor operations more precisely.
  • Scale with Your Business: As your operations grow, the Data Lake grows with you, supporting seamless data export without disrupting your FL3XX workflows.

This feature was developed in direct response to customer feedback, empowering you to leverage FL3XX data in ways that best suit your organization.

How to Get Started

Getting access to your Data Lake is straightforward. FL3XX will provide you with unique AWS credentials, including:

  • AWS Account ID
  • IAM username
  • Initial password
  • A personalized link to your S3 folder.

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Navigate to the AWS sign-in page and log in using your provided credentials.
  2. Once logged in, open a new browser tab and paste your unique S3 link.
  3. Browse your operator-specific folder (e.g., operator_<your-operator>), which contains sub-folders for each dataset.
  4. Download the .csv files and import them into your BI tool of choice.

Security and Data Freshness

At FL3XX, data security is paramount. Your Data Lake is protected by AWS IAM policies that enforce read-only access—preventing any uploads, modifications, or deletions. Each operator's data is isolated in a dedicated S3 folder, eliminating the risk of cross-operator exposure.

Data is refreshed automatically through BRIGHT's ETL process, syncing 3 times daily (aligned with your region: US at 06:00, 14:00, 22:00 UTC; EU at 03:00, 11:00, 19:00 UTC). This ensures your files always reflect the latest entries from your FL3XX system.

Integrating with Other BI Tools

To maximize the value of your Data Lake, you can connect your AWS S3 bucket directly to popular BI tools. Below are official guides and resources to help you get started:

  • Power BI: Connect the Microsoft Power BI service to AWS data sources, including S3, for seamless data import and visualization. Official AWS guide: Connecting the Microsoft Power BI service to AWS data sources.
  • Tableau: Use Tableau's native Amazon S3 connector to access your .csv, Excel, or Parquet files stored in S3. Official Tableau documentation: Amazon S3 Connector.
  • Microsoft Excel: While direct S3 integration in Excel is limited, you can upload Excel files from S3 to AWS services like QuickSight for analysis, or use connectors for advanced workflows. For programmatic access, explore the Amazon S3 Connector.
  • Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio): Connect via BigQuery Omni for federated queries on S3 data, or use migration tools like AWS Glue for data transfer. Official Google Cloud guide: Connect to Amazon S3 via BigQuery.

For other tools, consult AWS documentation on S3 integrations to ensure compatibility. If you need assistance setting up connections or have questions about your Data Lake, reach out to our support team—we're here to help you soar with data-driven decisions!
