ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System)
ETIAS is going to be a European version of the US ESTA. ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System. It is a form of electronic travel authorization.
Note: ETIAS has not yet entered into force and is expected to be introduced at a later stage. Once active, ETIAS will require visa-exempt travellers to obtain travel authorisation before entering the Schengen Area.
What is ETIAS?
The acronym "ETIAS" stands for the "European Travel Information and Authorization System". It is the European equivalent of the US ESTA: an electronic travel authorization that visitors traveling to the Schengen Area must obtain prior to their trip.
